Not so safe electrical connection

I seen this in the basement of a house that a local Realtor showed my kids. This would not take much to arc across the from the hot to the ground and short out this old wiring in this house and cause a fire. This should NEVER be done this kind of Jerry rigging (sorry Jerry) can only lead to disaster.
